Archivist/Special Collection Librarian
Oakwood University seeks an experienced and innovative librarian to lead all aspects of the University Archives and Museum. The librarian is responsible for planning; collection development, donor relations, processing, organizing, records management, maintenance, and preservation of collections; reference, instruction and outreach.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- ALA-accredited master's degree in library and information sciences required
- Minimum of three years professional archival experience, preferably in a college or university environment
- Knowledge and experience with digitization processes and computer applications
- Strong user service orientation; excellent supervisory ability, interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with various campus units and diverse community constituencies
DUTIES:
- Partner with faculty to integrate scholarly and primary information sources into teaching, learning and research.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures that ensure consistent and secure access to special collections.
- Promote archives collections and museum to all constituents and potential audiences.
- Lead library (and campus) digitization initiatives, including establishing standards, workflows, and policies.
- Locate and develop digital content to support academic instruction.
- Analyze current condition of materials and facility; implement appropriate preservation measures for use and long term storage.
- Work with appropriate college offices, alumni and other entities in identifying potential donors and materials that support the university mission.
- Serve on library and campus committees, including as liaison to academic departments.
- Participate in reference and research assistance using all communication means.
- Partner with departments in designing and mounting physical and virtual exhibits, tours and events.
SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience.
