- Workshop
- Tom Abbott - Dean, UMA Lewiston-Auburn College and Dean of Libraries and Instructional Support
Tradition has us counting the number of monographs, the number of reader seats, as well as circulation counts and traffic numbers. Would not it make more sense to be able to show anyone who asked, your mission, purpose and goals statement, the array of activities that lead to completion of the mission goals and, best of all, the results of your ongoing assessment process that demonstrates that you have reached 87% of your goals last year and 93% this year? This workshop will provide a framework for defining activity outcomes, program goals and measures to track progress toward meeting your objectives. Hands on activities and take home materials will be provided.
- Every Librarian A Leader
- Gilbert Abella
Aimed at librarians and members of the library staff other than directors, this presentation addresses the importance of leadership from the Christian and Biblical viewpoints; issues of leadership in terms of internal operations of the library, focusing on how those who work at the library can best support the efforts of library administration; what librarians and members of the library staff can do to show leadership on campus, and leadership as an opportunity for all professionals working in the field of librarianship.
- Your Personality and You
- Bradley Booth - Professor of Education, Atlantic Union College
What type of personality do you have, and is it set for life? Does God give us a certain personality at birth, or do we continue to develop it throughout our lifetimes? Are there weaknesses of character in our personalities that can end up being a detriment to our co-workers, our families, and our church? What do we need to know about our personality so that we can be more balanced individuals, better employees, and more effective in our church communities? As we consider these questions, we will be looking at several theories of personality. A biblical understanding of this subject is key to our sense of fulfillment as practicing Christians.
